We are partnering with Fundación Valentía to support underserved children with disabilities who face living difficulties for medical costs, associated transportation and any other related assistance. Advancing with Healthcare collaborates on projects supporting individuals with disabilities who face transportation and living difficulties for projects that are therapeutic or helpful for the affected individuals.
Fundación Valentía is a nonprofit organization based in Pereira, Colombia. This organization is dedicated to supporting underserved families that have individuals with disabilities. Fundación Valentía works to improve the life of these families by helping the parents become independent and aligned with support systems.
The mission of Fundación Valentía is to help the people who take care of others and the people with disabilities. It does this by fundaising to improve the living conditions of families and their housing circumstances. This is because many of these families do not have well-built roofs, bedrooms, and many other basic living spaces. The organization also educates and provides resources for the caretakers to earn income in order to support their family member(s) with disabilities. Their resources also allow the caretakers to work without leaving their homes meaning they are also able to take care of their family member with the disability.
Fundación Valentía was founded in 2019 and has become an essential assistance to many families. This nonprofit also provides food, transportation, medicine, therapy and a place to live for these families. In 2023 the organization also started a center for connecting families and also where individuals can learn to become more independent and gain aid for their disability.
As of October 2024, Fundación Valentía has helped promote the development of 38 family-run businesses and improved the lives of 195 families, with 129 families actively participating in its programs. These households include 143 individuals with disabilities who benefit directly from the foundation's services and support. The organization has distributed 952 food packages, provided dozens of mobility aids including wheelchairs and adaptive strollers, completed housing improvement projects for families in need, and brought joy to hundreds of children and caregivers through annual holiday gift programs. These achievements reflect the foundation's commitment to addressing both immediate needs and long-term economic stability.
